What these guides help with

These guides are for neurodivergent adults from 18. You might be newly diagnosed. You might have been diagnosed later in life. You might be self-identifying, or still exploring your neurotype. You do not need a diagnosis to read them.

Many people arrive here after a long time of feeling different without knowing why. Some work it out as adults, in their own time. Some discover it about themselves while supporting a neurodivergent child. There is no single right way to get here.

Each guide explains what a moment can look like, in plain Australian English. It names the practical first steps, and what to expect along the way. It does not tell you who you are. You are the expert on your own life.

These guides are written to be calm and affirming. They will not pathologise you, and they will not rush you. For more on Autistic-led, affirming perspectives, the Australian charity Reframing Autism (opens in new tab) is a good place to start.

Understanding Zoe does not diagnose. It helps you notice what matters, keep it in one place, and prepare for the conversations ahead.

How Understanding Zoe fits, for you

Starting over with a new therapist often means re-explaining your whole story. Holding appointments, notes and what helps, all in your head, is exhausting. You should not have to carry all of it alone.

Understanding Zoe gives you one calm place to hold it. You set up a profile for yourself, not for a child. Pip, your second brain, speaks to you, not about anyone else. It remembers what you tell it, so your mind is free for the rest of your day.

Your About Me holds the things that matter: your Strengths, your Interests, your Support Needs, and the Best Way You Learn. It is a short summary you can copy and paste, or include in a report. A new therapist or a new employer can know the important things about you before you walk in.

Your village is yours, on your terms. You decide who joins, and you decide what each person can see. Your private chats with Pip stay private. You are in control of your own information.

Questions, answered

Common questions

Who are these guides for?

They are for neurodivergent adults from 18. That includes newly diagnosed, late diagnosed, self-identifying, or still exploring your neurotype. You do not need a diagnosis to read them.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. You can begin from where you are. The guides are affirming and do not require a label. You decide what fits you.

Which guide should I read first?

Start with the moment that fits you. There is a guide for a new diagnosis, one for adult ADHD diagnosis, and one for a late diagnosis. There is no wrong path.

Can Understanding Zoe tell me if I'm autistic or have ADHD?

No. Pip is not a doctor or therapist. It helps you track what you notice and prepare. You can then share that with a qualified professional, like your GP or a psychologist.

Is Understanding Zoe an app for adults, or just for parents?

It works for neurodivergent adults too. You get a Self profile where Pip speaks to you, not about a child. It is one calm place that grows with you. See the app for neurodivergent adults.

Are these guides free to read?

Yes. The guides are free to read. The app is a separate product, with a 7-day free trial on iPhone and Android.

Built calm. Kept safe.
