Welcome to Understanding Zoe. In a few minutes, you'll make your account, add Mia's profile, and meet Pip, your coach for everyday life. Here is how.

0:15Making your account

Tap Continue with Email and type your email address. Then add your name, choose a password, and tap Create an account. You can also continue with Apple or Google.

0:26Agreeing to the terms

First, read how your information is looked after. When you're ready, tick the box to agree to the terms, then tap Continue.

0:35Choosing who you support

Choose My child. Then tell us what brings you here. Pick as many as you like. You can add more profiles later, including one for yourself.

0:45Adding your child's profile

Type your child's first name. Then choose how Mia experiences the world. It isn't about labels. It helps Pip understand how best to support Mia.

0:56Notifications and your plan

Choose whether to turn on notifications. Then choose your plan. Your first seven days are free, and you can cancel anytime.

1:05Meeting Pip

You're in. This is the Pip tab, your home in the app. Mia's name at the top shows whose profile you're on. Getting started is easy. Tap the box at the bottom and tell Pip what's on your mind, or what happened today. A line is enough. Pip may ask a question to understand more.

1:24Adding reports and letters

Already have reports or letters about Mia? Tap the plus button to upload them, like a report from her psychologist. Pip puts each one into plain language and keeps it in one place. The more you share, the better Pip gets to know Mia. Once it does, ask Pip to write Mia's About Me, on Mia's tab. Pip is a coach, not a doctor. The videos on talking to Pip, documents and your village show more.

Do I need a diagnosis to use Understanding Zoe?

No. You can start with or without a formal assessment. The app works from support needs and traits, not labels.

Can my child use the app themselves?

The app is built for adults: parents, carers and the people they invite. Children are not direct users. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to agree to the terms.

Can I use Understanding Zoe for myself?

Yes. You can hold a profile for yourself, for a child, or both. When the profile is yours, Pip talks to you as a person.

Is Pip a therapist or a doctor?

No. Pip is not a therapist, a counsellor or a doctor. It helps you organise, notice patterns and prepare. For medical questions, speak with your GP or your prescriber.

Still stuck? Our help page has more answers, and a real person reads every message.
